## Major Krystal Events of the Past 5 Years

### 2020
Back in 2020, the world didn't yet know about COVID and I was still posting on the site almost every weekday. Let's right after the release of the podcast episode.

* There was a legendary fan mod called Star Fox: Paths of Fate, based on the Max Payne 2 game which featured a cool looking Krystal model. The mod was never released, but we finally got permission to post the model.
* Miharu the Fox released a huge video about Krystal as an icon within the furry community.
* I began the Krystal Staff Project, an attempt to recreate Krystal's Staff from the games as accurately as possible.
* Super Smash Flash 2 version 1.2 released, allowing you to play as Krystal.
* Star Fox Assault celebrated its 15th anniversary.
* COVID-19 hit light a freight train, shutting down the world's economy and isolating many of us. I tried to keep a positive attitude for everyone.
* A new, very high detailed Krystal cosplayer named NYALICE began showing off progress shots.
* Kagekitsoon released a high quality Krystal bust, suitable for 3D printing.
* Rick May, the voice of Peppy Hare and Andross in Star Fox 64, passed away.
* Longtime reader of the site and personal friend of mine, FoxType1973, passed away.
* An attempt to recreate the Dinosaur Planet N64 game engine by Hugo Peter called Warlock Engine was preparing for release.
* High quality Assault Krystal render was found.
* The first of a series of videos by Esphirian showed off his attempt to remake Star Fox Adventures as a much larger game with playable Krystal.
* BambooKat began selling Krystal figures for the first time.
* I recreated the Star Fox Adventures logo in vector format, releasing it for free.
* The amazing mod that allows Krystal to play through all of Star Fox Adventures, Amethyst Edition, was released by RenaKunisaki.
* Star Fox inspired indie game, EX Zodiac, is announced and was successfully kickstarted.
* UndyingNephalim continued to improve and expand his fan game Star Fox: Event Horizon.
* Famous Krystal cosplayer, Ayano Harumaki, was still dealing with health issues, but occasionally posted.
* A huge amount of Nintendo's secret development data and code was leaked, which included Star Fox 2 and Star Fox 64 content, which we couldn't fully cover as the data was stolen.
* Humans discovered in Star Fox Canon. Probably a mistranslation though.
* ShadowSnake made more progress on making Krystal fully playable in Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
* Added the now-famous custom Krystal emotes to the Discord server.
* As a Krystmas present, I released the complete set of Krystal vocal sound effects from Star Fox Adventures.

### 2021
In 2021, I started posting a little less. While I never lost my job during COVID, there was a lot of pressure to work faster and harder. Here's what happened that year on the site.

* The Krystal Archive celebrated 15 years online!
* There was going to be an official Star Fox animated show using puppets, but it was canceled.
* In a shocking event, a near-complete version of Dinosaur Planet, featuring mid-transition assets and story elements, was released to the internet. Technically not stolen or a leak, the internet went wild and many flocked to Discord servers to try and discover what they could and complete the game's code.
* We learned from a newly translated interview that Shigeru Miyamoto had a huge impact on Krystal's final design.
* Technicolor Cosplay's Krystal was featured in a print magazine in Canada.
* Shortly after creating and showing of a fantastic Krystal cosplay, the cosplayer NYALICE passed away.
* Takaya Imamura, heavily involved in the development of several Star Fox games, leaves Nintendo.
* My computer exploded.
* Friend of the site, YumeAislinn, completed the first ever Dinosaur Planet style Krystal cosplay. The tail she made was expecially fantastic!
* Most Star Fox Command ship models were ripped and released.

### 2022
I actually posted a lot more this year.

* In a surprise to everyone, the late cosplayer NYALICE suddenly reappeared after passing away. Turns out, the cosplayer's family made a tribute by wearing the old costumes and taking photos.
* New cutscene data was discovered in Star Fox Adventures' code.
* The Krazoa Palace from Star Fox Adventures was ripped and released.
* This year's April Fools Joke was to make our very on Krystal-based Cryptocurrency. Surprisingly, several people from outside of the site took it seriously.
* More Krystal models from Assault and Dinosaur Planet were ripped and released.
* In 2018, Gagnetar had released his Half Life 2 mod that totally replaced Alyx with Krystal and was very detailed. Well, he caused the internet to collectively melt down by announcing that Estelle Ellis had agreed to reprise her role as the voice of Krystal in the game. This was big news everywhere, and would lead to Estelle Ellis lending her voice to other fan projects.
* All Krystal voice lines from Dinosaur Planet were published.
* Estelle Ellis announced her twitter account, which blew up.
* One of my favorite Krystal fanart commissions ever, Krystal in a Lab Coat, was finished by artist Pruh.
* Estelle Ellis was announced to play Krystal in Star Fox: Event Horizon.
* Another excellent Krystal cosplayer appears named Rubiinikettu. This cosplay is very similar to Ayano Harumaki's style.
* Some people noticed that a fan letter in Nintendo Power is now the new oldest-known Krystal fanart.
* With the 20th Anniversary of Star Fox Adventures coming up, the game and its fans got the spotlight.
  * In a huge video, I showed off my entire Star Fox collection, taking over 30 minutes to go through it all.
  * Several others showed off their Krystal or Star Fox collections, including RicardoTheFox and Gh0stTrick.
  * Many livestreams were done.
  * Tribute artwork and songs were made.
  * Jacob did a Fox McCloud cosplay and then later recreated the merchant scenes from Star Fox Adventures.
* The huge update to the Half Life 2 mod, featuring Estelle Ellis's voice for Krystal was released.
* Rhyfe2002 created a Krystal mod for DNFDuel, a fighting game, and got Estelle Ellis to voice Krystal. I helped commission character artwork for the mod.

### 2023
This is where things really started to slow down for the site.

* Retro Studios apparently pitched a Star Fox reboot heavily focused on multiplayer.
* Jock Blaney, the voice of Wolf and Bill from Star Fox 64, was announced as a voice actor in Star Fox: Event Horizon.
* Reynold's Logistics, a trucking company, appears to have a logo identical to Krystal's spiral tattoo.
* Another very old Krystal fanart was found, and though it was probably published earlier than the one in the Nintendo Power, it is almost certainly not as old.
* AngelTheVixen was developing a Krystal mod for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.
* There were no posts on the site for 2023 after June. That's a really long time with no posts. During this time, I was actively being shuffled around in my job even as our company ran out of money and began to shut down.

### 2024
My habit of not updating the site continued, though there were some notible events.

* Estelle Ellis announced a project to create an emotional support plushie based on a combination of herself and Krystal, called Krystelle, her sort of fan-character.
* A Fox and Krystal dual cosplay appeared in the Montreal Comiccon, and we found out more about them. Their skit was cut short, but Krystal won a prize. In spite of being relatively new cosplayers, they did a great job. Krystal's Staff was also very impressive.
* I tried to post more during this time, showing off several Krystal figurines sent to my email inbox.
* Jacob announced his intent to recreate the intro to Star Fox Adventures as a cosplay-based fanfilm.
* Star Fox: Event Horizon development continued to march on, with UndyingNephalim persistently continuing to work on the massive fan project. He did a big interview with streamer FoxDaddy.

### 2025
And that brings us to 2025. As I said, I plan to post every day, even on weekends. So far, I've only missed two days, and I'll probably add two extra posts to make up for it. At least 365 posts in 2025 is the goal, along with some other much needed site updates.

* Star Fox 64 has been decompiled and you can use the project code to create your own Star Fox 64 running native on your PC. This will probably lead to major mods.
* AngelTheVixen, after finishing the Wind Waker Krystal mod, has started work on a Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess mod. It's currently on hold, but work will resume soon.
* Jacob released his Star Fox Live Action fanfilm.
* Krystal has made several appearances in TerminalMontage's videos, and his newest one about Crash Bandicoot includes a very quick Krystal cameo.
* Estelle Ellis announced she was working on a new Krystal plushie, probably with an accessory.
* The Krystal Archive has been online for 19 years now. I asked everyone for questions and comments to go over on the podcast, and you guys really delivered!
* HopLaud created a Krystal mod for Marvel Rivals and plans to improve on it soon.
* Over 2024, I had worked on improving the Staff Project's head and tail tips. I made a detailed post showing off the new models and making them available for purchase.
* I showed off the Fox McCloud cosplay by KeyBladeSonic, the original commissioner of the Staff Project's version 2 tips.

## Questions and Comments

### Sunnyside asked:
I'm curious what inspired you to create the krystal archive and how you were able to maintain it after all these years.

### Plague Doctor Lawrence asked several questions:
1. Should Nintendo develop a full lore for Star Fox like Lord of the Rings or Star Wars? Or should it stay the way it is with a mostly established world but enough gaps for fans to go wild with filling in the blanks and making thing up?
2. What would be the best thing that Nintendo can add to Star Fox to better flesh out the world in your opinion?
3. What is your ideal version of Cerinia? Advanced? Primitive? Magic? Technological? Or a mix of multiple things?

### Marcus McCloud asked a couple questions:
1. Why does it take so long to publish an episode?
2. Are you going to talk about how fans have recently gotten Krystal into projects?
   * (He's referring to Estelle Ellis participating in fan projects.)

### Pasta Man 64 asked:
I'm curious, what kept you motivated to keep the site running for this long? Have there ever been moments where you considered taking it down (tho ofc chose not to)?

### Crafty Coyote asked:
After all these years, do we know if she can enjoy her sandwich?

### Nick asked:
What's your perfect dream scenario for Krystal appearing in a future game? A standalone starring her, a remastering of a former game, sequel, prequel, something completely different, possible design changes both physical and beyond or keeping things the same? Just very curious as to what you would ideally be looking for in a perfect future with said game and what you'd ideally want from her and the game itself around her.

### Marshall B. made a large comment with questions:
Congratulations man! I feel like I have missed out on so much of this site over the years, especially considering that I knew exactly what I was doing around the time that you started the website so long ago. Been on a hardcore Krystal Binge lately, and I love seeing stuff like this still running.

Something that I have wanted for years is another game that shows the dynamic between both Krystal and Fox, and makes it a big part of the plot, like in SFA, but much much deeper. Would also love to see her as a playable smash Character, and if she ever got her own game, I would be pre-ordering that the second I heard about it!

Also, do you remember what you posted up on here on day 1, back in 2006?

Finally, one thing that I am strongly opinionated on, is that any sort of voiceover work for Krystal for future projects MUST be done by Estelle Ellis! She is always going to be the OG, and has done so much work with keeping the character in the spotlight, just like you have done here!

### Jacob Sorrells made a large comment with questions:
Happy Birthday, Krystal Archive!

My pitch for a true spiritual successor to Starfox Adventures would be called "Starfox Adventures: Cerinia", and would involve Fox and Krystal exploring the scattered remnants of Cerinia floating around in space. Much like the original Adventures, they would have to collect artifacts of sorts to bring the remnants (or continents) back together to fix the planet, as well as discover the keys to the mysteries behind the planet's past. It would play alot like "Subnautica" mixed with the original game, and would emphasize more vehicle gameplay including the "Blue Marine", "Landmaster", "Arwing", and the "Bikemaster". It would balance the vehicle gameplay with on-foot gameplay as well. There would be several plot twists in the game where Fox and Krystal would get in trouble, and even get separated at times. Near the end, it would be revealed that Drakor originally destroyed Cerinia, and was using Fox and Krystal's efforts to power up a new weapon powered by the artifacts and the "Quan Ata Lachu" to destroy the Lylat System. They would have to team up to defeat him and barely escape the once-again imploding planet. There's way more to the game than just that, but that's the jist of it. Oh, and General Scales would make a comeback in it as well, with a REAL bossfight this time lol. What do you guys think?

### BlastOfBN made a large comment with questions:
Hi! New poster here, long-time Nintendo fan and artist. Though, I've actually known about the Krystal Archive for a couple years now. I've just never really had the courage to leave a comment on here. I'm quite shy. I figured the 19th anniversary of the Krystal Archive might be my cue to speak up.

Also, as an artist myself, I don't really do much Krystal-related work. Maybe I should change that.

My only question is if you can imagine Krystal reaching a wider audience one day. Essentially, outside the Internet's art and gaming communities (especially the really niche ones) and conventions.

Speaking of conventions, yes, I saw a Krystal banner for sale at AFC 2024, a furry convention that was held in Ontario, California, and yes, with her being my favorite video game character, I was tempted to buy it. Spoiler alert: I never bought it.

### Gh0stTrick asked several questions:
1. Was your fascination with Krystal immediate or did it take time for her to grow on you?
2. Are you for or against a Krystal focused game with hack n slash mechanics like Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, etc?
3. If there is a Star Fox animated movie, who would you want to play the main cast? Krystal especially.
4. Do you think Krystal would have the following she does if Dinosaur Planet existed? Would there be a KA if so you think?
5. Do you wish you owned my Krystal collection?

### taking a leak commented:
The blog wasn't updating much during the Dinosaur Planet leaks. Theres a lot of Krystal trivia and cool moments in there to post about.

### Technicolor cosplay wants me to comment on cosplay stuff.

### Dogancan commented:
I so happy, I realy like your site when I meet the İnternet!

### Absolhunter251 commented:
I'm glad you are still keeping this up and running, strong too. Thank you for contributing to it to all these years.

### Throck Mortan asked:
How many fingers you got? I always took you for a guy that had six on each hand.
